Mr Mearza was a guest speaker at this year’s 25th Annual Scientific Congress of the British Society for Refractive Surgery held on the 23rd and 24th June 2018.
The meeting was held at the stunning Belfry Hotel & Resort in the West Midlands and Mr Mearza provided his expertise in the Refractive Surgery Controversies section of the meeting.
The meeting was well attended and had an International faculty. One of highlights was the inaugural Charles Mcghee lecture delivered by Professor Mcghee himself who charted his journey from studying Medicine at Glasgow University in Scotland to then becoming Professor and Chair of Ophthalmology at the University of Aukland in New Zealand 15 years later – a fascinating journey!
It was also great to catch up with my dear friend and mentor, Ioannis Aslanides, Medical Director of the Emmetropia Eye Institute on the island of Crete. Was it really over 10 years ago since I was his fellow?! How time flies!
